Avalanche Safety

Champéry

This snowshoe hike will teach you the essential avalanche safety skills you need when heading off the beaten track.

Having your own avalanche safety equipment is good, but knowing how to use it is even better! Whether you are a beginner or already have experience in avalanche rescue, today’s hike will review vital skills that could help save a life in case of avalanche.

The day will start with an introduction to the basic safety equipment (avalanche beacon, shovels, probes), familiarising you with common terms and dangerous situations to avoid when exploring the mountains.

Afterwards, we will venture out on a snowshoe hike, with stops along the way for demonstrations and practical exercises.
