The village of Troistorrents will host a unique event: the Raclette World Championships, which will showcase and compete with local and foreign producers to the delight of lovers of this emblematic dish.

Already a forerunner with its La Cavagne cooperative and its automated maturing cellar, the Vallée d’Illiez wants to continue to celebrate its terroir, but is aiming higher! As its name suggests, the Raclette World Championships will feature local, regional and international cheeses. For this first edition, the organising committee intends to invite 5 different countries and bring the world of raclette together in the heart of the Portes du Soleil for a weekend.

In a festive and friendly atmosphere, the World Championships will have the task of crowning the best cheeses according to defined categories: raw milk raclettes, raw mountain milk raclettes, pasteurised milk raclettes and special raclettes. The jury responsible for scoring the competing cheeses will be made up of 40 people, including 5 raclette professionals, 5 restaurateurs and 30 consumers who have registered in advance.

Throughout the weekend, a raclette village will be set up in the centre of the village of Troistorrents and will include some twenty alpine stands. The World Championships will therefore not only be a cheese competition, but also a festive and convivial weekend around the emblematic dish of the Valais!
