Compulsory Use of masks

Compulsory use of masks from 12 years old in the following places:

  • on public transport (trains, buses, underground stations)
  • in closed cable car cabins such as gondolas
  • in closed waiting areas
  • in all enclosed, publicly accessible spaces  that are not subject to the certificate requirement

Quarantine

People must quarantine / self-isolate in the following cases:

  • Following close contact with an infected person who has tested positive
  • Vaccinated persons are not required to quarantine during the 12 months from the date of full vaccination.
  • After arrival from a country on the high-risk list

COVID certificate

The COVID certificate is a document that attests to a valid vaccination or negative PCR test. This document is available in paper, PDF or via the “COVID certificate” application. More information

It is compulsory from the age of 16 for access to the following places:

  • Indoor restaurants
  • Nightclubs and dance events
  • Indoor events and activities (with the exception of rehearsal training in fixed groups (max. 30 people)).
  • Large events from 1000 people
  • Sports centres, museums, libraries and other indoor sports and leisure facilities.

COVID Tests

PCR test

  • PCR tests can be carried out in the medical practices by appointment only
  • The result can take up to 48 hours. 
  • Certificates are issued in German or English.
  • Foreign guests pay 180.- for the test in any case.
  • Persons residing in Switzerland pay 156.- for the test. The Swiss government covers these costs if the test is carried out on the basis of symptoms or contact tracing.

Rapid antigen test

  • These can be carried out in the medical practices by appointment only
  • The result is available within 15 minutes.
  • Foreign guests pay 90.- for the test in any case.
  • The Swiss government covers these costs for persons residing in Switzerland.

Antigen self-test

  • You can obtain self-tests at pharmacies. People with a Swiss health insurer are entitled to 5 tests every 30 days free of charge
  • The result of the test is available within 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Foreign guests cannot obtain antigen self-tests from pharmacies.

Rules that apply from 1st October:

  • Rapid antigen tests for asymptomatic persons (e.g. for a test certificate) are no longer reimbursed by the federal government. Exceptions apply for:
    • Children and adolescents under 16 years of age
    • Persons who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons (certificate required)
    • Visitors to health care facilities (no issuance of a Covid test certificate)
  • In principle, tests of symptomatic persons and persons in close contact with an infected person as well as PCR confirmation tests no longer lead to a Covid certificate.
  • In principle, self-tests are no longer reimbursed by the federal government

Events

Indoor events:

  • COVID certificate is mandatory
  • No limit on the number of people
  • Mask is not compulsory

Outdoor events:

  • COVID certificate is not mandatory
  • If visitors are required to sit, the number of visitors may be up to 1000;
  • If visitors are allowed to stand or move around freely, the number of visitors can be up to 500;
  • Dancing is not allowed;
  • The facility is filled to 2/3 of its maximum capacity;
  • Masks are not compulsory;

Pubs / Restaurants

The COVID certificate is compulsory at the entrance of the restaurants:

  • The certificate requirement applies to persons aged 16 and over.
  • No certificate is required on terraces
  • In places where a certificate is required, all other protective measures, such as the obligation to wear a mask, are waived.

Lodgings

  • Our Hotels remain open. For booking cancellations, individual cancellation conditions apply.  Please contact your service provider directly.
  • From the age of 12, wearing a mask is compulsory in common areas and enclosed spaces.
  • Hydroalcoholic gel is available to customers and daily disinfection of contact areas is carried out.
