The Old Mill on the Tine

Morgins · Troistorrents

Get a glimpse into our region's fascinating history on a tour of this meticulously reconstructed water mill.

The visit includes the miller’s house, a museum of antique tools, a forge, a woodworking exhibition and, of course, the grain mill.

Classified as an historic monument, and particularly beautiful when lit up at night, this meticulously reconstructed mill clings higgledy piggledy to the precipitous side of the Tine River Gorge.

The original buildings dated back to 1401 and once housed a grain mill, a linen fulling workshop, a press, a forge, a sawmill and a carpentry shop.

As you stoop to pass through the doorway into the tiny miller’s cottage, you can almost hear the creaking of the mill-wheel and imagine yourself in the shoes of our hard-working ancestors.

Guided visits for groups all year by with reservations. The facilities are in operation on mill days or on request. A collection of tools, as well as a permanent exhibition on hemp, wood and its crafts complete the visit.
