For lovers of the mountains, wide open spaces and the great outdoors! The "Cantine de Barmaz" (open from May to October) is the perfect place for your summer vacations.
Visitor NotificationFrom approximately 31st August to 20th November 2026, the access road to Grand-Paradis will be closed to all traffic due to turbining works. During this period, the Cantine will remain accessible:
from Champéry: via the Route de Planachaux, then the Bretelle des Creuses
from Monthey/Choëx, Troistorrents or Val-d'Illiez: via the Route des Rives
Vehicles over 18 tonnes must use the Route des Rives from Monthey/Choëx.

You’ll find yourself in the midst of pastures dotted with hundreds of flowers, crossed by torrents and surrounded by verdant forest. The majestic Dents Blanches massif (2,756m) dominates this enchanting setting. And in the distance, you can see the high Alpine peaks of the Dents du Midi massif (3,257m) and the eternal snows of the Ruan glacier. From August to October, you can watch the aerial ballet of thousands of migrating birds as they stop off at the Cols de Cou and Bretolet (1h30 walk from the Cantine).
But it’s not just the skies that are bustling with activity. Take time to observe the wealth of wildlife. Wild boar, badgers, deer, hares and foxes will be your closest neighbors. With a little patience, more occasional visitors such as marmots, ermines, mouflons and chamois will show up.
