A friendly and accessible climbing experience
Perched on the magnificent Barme Plateau, the site offers 57 routes on a limestone cliff about 40 m high, both technical and playful, suitable for beginners and advanced climbers alike.
The equipment generally consists of 10 mm stainless steel bolts, placed quite close together, ensuring safe progress for climbers.
All routes are east-facing, perfect for enjoying the morning sun and climbing in pleasant conditions.
Climbing highlights: 5 well-defined sectors
The cliff, which reaches up to 80 m in places, is divided into five distinct sectors, each adapted to different skill levels:
- Dents Blanches: grades 3+ to 5-, 10 routes, ideal for beginners
Recommended rope length: 30 m - Belle Montagne & Les Dalles: grades 4+ to 6b, 22 routes, perfect for intermediate to advanced climbers
Recommended rope length: 45–60 m - Les Dévers: grades 4+ to 7b, about 15 routes for experienced climbers
Recommended rope length: 60 m - Le Chat: intermediate to advanced, about 15 routes
Recommended rope length: 50 m
Introductory outings with Champéry mountain guides are also available, allowing visitors to discover or progress in a safe and friendly setting.
The Barme Plateau: a remarkable natural setting
Beyond climbing, the Barme Plateau is a unique natural gem: a fascinating transition between flower-filled alpine meadows and limestone cliffs, it is a convivial, easily accessible place, popular with both families and outdoor enthusiasts.
Once a smuggler’s route, the plateau now offers a themed trail that takes visitors back into this Alpine history.
It is also an exceptional bird migration area: every year, thousands of raptors and migratory birds cross the valley, making the nearby Col de Bretolet an internationally renowned ornithological station.
Finally, several themed trails invite visitors to explore geology, flora, and fauna, for a complete and enriching experience.
