Named for an impressive passage carved right into the rocky mountainside, Roc Coupé is a wonderfully varied hike that traverses shady forests, serene mountain pastures, and a lovely alpine suspension bridge.
Grand Paradis – Roc Coupé – Passerelle Belle Etoile – Bonavau – Grand Paradis
The Roc Coupé trail is a perfect summary of the extraordinary richness offered by the nature of our mountains: from tranquil forests and gushing rivers to bucolic pastures and the spectacular Roc Coupé scree.
From Grand-Paradis, follow the road past the Centre Nordique and Parcours Vita. Continue along the road to Barme and, at the bend in the road, turn left onto the footpath towards Roc Coupé, which leads to the Rossétan mountain pasture. At the halfway point, at around 1’478m, cross the Passerelle Belle-Étoile and head for the Buvette de Bonaveau.
From the Buvette, descend into the Bonaveau forest. At ‘Les Clous’, take the path beside the Auberge du Grand-Paradis, to reach the parking lot of the same name.
Alternative extension to Cabane de Susanfe (difficult):
Time: add 2h45 and D+625m for the round trip from the junction after the Passerelle via the Pas d’Encel (mid-mountain path with red-white markings, passage with chains),
