Straddling the border between Switzerland and France, our mountains are full of mystery, lore and legend. Spend the evening with a knowledgeable local guide and you'll go home with a few lively anecdotes about the ‘Contrabandiers’ of yore...

Set off on a beautiful escape where nature meets history. Follow the old smuggling routes, secret paths once trodden by those who defied frontiers to smuggle cheese, bells and hams. At the end of the walk, you’ll make a butter with wild herbs picked along the way and enjoy a delicious meal at Les Clavets.

Equipment required:
– A rucksack, clothing suitable for walking depending on weather conditions, a windproof jacket, good walking shoes, walking sticks (recommended), sunglasses, headlamp, sun cream, water and a small snack. Possibly binoculars and camera.
– Canvas bag, scissors or knife for picking, writing utensils.

Practical information:
– Rather difficult hike (13km, 500m ascent, and 1000m D-)
